Seed beads and braclets
Hey guys! i just made my first braclet off of this website, http://kandipatterns.com/ i used pony beads which is what they said to use, but my braclet is really big and a little chunky. I was wondering if i could do this with seed beads instead. what kind of string do you think i should use? i was thinking I could put a clasp on the end of the braclet so the string wont have to be strechy. and would i have to use a needle to thread the beads on?
PS
does anyone know how to make these patterns? https://picasaweb.google.com/micangaseafins/RevistaHelloKittyBook#5334693645676622146 Im pretty sure u thread sead beads onto string but would i use a needle? Thank you!

Kaila... Checked the website you listed for the bracelet.. not sure which one you are attempting... If it is a picture bracelet you may run in to difficulty maintaining proportions... if it is a not a complicated design then you would be OK to change to a smaller bead.. Try using a 6/o seed first, (also know as an E-Bead)... smaller still use an 8/o and even smaller use an 11/o seed. Threads - use #8 Fireline or Toho One-G or even Nymo size D... All these threads would need a needle (size 12 good for all threads).
Because of the questions you ask, I assume you are fairly new to beading and the picasa (Korean) pattern is a little complicated for someone without much experience... but to answer your question, you would only need a needle if you were using seed beads... if you use larger beads (crystals etc.) then a needle is not always necessary... Hope I was able to help...

Morning Kaila... Checked your picasa pattern again and I would say that it is a 'flat motif' pattern and would be done in either an 11/o or poss. 8/o seed bead... As crystals start at 2mm for round and 2.5mm for bicones, the motif would be somewhat larger if done in crystals... Choice of crystals is up to you... Swarks are the best, but Chinese crystals come in a close second and are a little cheaper... then you have Czech Crystals cheaper still... The best site I have found for seed beads is Bellomodo.com... there tubes are bigger than most places for just a few cents more and shipping is free... Look on the list on the left and 'click' seed beads... then you have to choose manufacturer... I am a Toho (Japanese) girl all the way... then look for the size your need... Hope you understand all that... Happy Beading...

Kaila... Was looking at the patterns again and the 'penny' just dropped... those picasa patterns are done on wire... it is called 'french beading'... if you want to do it with thread you would have to use 'brick' stitch... Has that thrown a spanner in the works...???
Seed beads and braclets
sorry for the long pause!! i couldnt check the web for a while.... computer went crazy! uh whats a brick stitch?
Seed beads and braclets
oh with wire.....i could probably do that. that actually might be easier! any specific wire brands or sizes??
Seed beads and braclets
Kaila... wire is not my strong point but I would stick my neck out here and say a 22gauge for 11/o seed beads and a 20gauge for 8/o seed beads... (the lower the gauge #, the thicker the wire)... probably a 20gauge for crystals too... Would suggest finding a roll as cheap as possible for your first attempt... cannot help with brand names... sorry... good luck with the project and be sure to post a pic. when finished.

Kaila... Go to BeadandButton.com and use their 'search' box to type in Brick Stitch... (good tutorial)... I tried to list it here but it won't let me...
